Cambridge-based musician Simon George-Kelso will open the Friday evening concert on the Nightingale stage, sharing his passion for traditional song and music. Simon draws his songs mainly from the English tradition. He prefers the informality of singarounds and sessions to stage performances, and some of you may have joined the morning singarounds that he has run at Ely Festival for several years. He has a growing collection of seasonal songs, and a long term ambition to fill the calendar – if you know of any songs for July 29th or 31st please let him know. You may also hear him singing about love and death, farming and fishing, war and protest, or occasionally beer. As well as performing on the Nightingale stage on Friday evening, Simon will also lead singarounds in the bar on Saturday and Sunday.
