Winners of our 2022 Festival Band Competition, Paper Sparrows played a storming set to open the 2022 festival. We enjoyed their sound so much, we’ve invited them back to play at the 2023 festival. Hailing from Edinburgh, Paper Sparrows began as a collaboration between singer-songwriter David Hershaw and multi-instrumentalist Ross Fairbairn, who developed a distinctive twin acoustic guitar style – and were completed by long term friend and collaborator Colin Morris on double-bass. Their arrangements draw upon the work of finger-picking virtuosos like Jansch, Renbourn, Rawlings and the Milk Carton Kids.
