GET INVOLVED Ely Folk Festival

Ely Folk Festival is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company organised by local volunteers that aims to be self-financing. The festival is a key event in the Ely calendar bringing over two thousand visitors from near and far to Ely for the duration of the weekend and its benefit to the city both culturally and commercially is significant.

You can get involved by volunteering as a steward, helper or by sponsoring the festival.

Our team of around 200 volunteer stewards are the backbone of Ely Folk Festival. Without them it just couldn’t happen. If you are interested in stewarding at the 2023 festival, read on….
Have a look at our note about stewarding essentials, duties available and how to apply – Being a Steward 2023[24242] You’ll spot a common theme in the Useful Skills lists – friendly and helpful – we aim to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable festival that is memorable for all the right reasons, and you’ll play a key part in that.

Festival volunteering

Ely Folk Festival relies on a committee of volunteers and other supporters to ensure it happens each year. We’ve steered its growth from a small local event to a firm fixture on the national festival calendar combining the best of national and local talent. We’re on the look out for fresh talent to join our festival committee or help in other ways to ensure Ely Folk Festival continues to thrive and grow. If you are interested in lending time or other support to help us make it happen, please drop an email to No previous festival-organising experience necessary, just a willingness to help a greet weekend music event continue in Ely.
