As you may know, we have reached the sad conclusion that in light of the continuing Covid-19 crisis, it would not be safe or practical to continue with Ely Folk Festival 2020 and have therefore taken the decision to postpone it to 9-11 July 2021.
We have been delighted by the messages of support for Ely Folk Festival posted on facebook since we initially announced the postponement of the festival. Thank you so much to all our loyal supporters.
We are committed to ensuring the long term sustainable future of the festival, and so working with our fantastic artists, suppliers, contractors and supporters over the last few weeks, we are delighted to say that:
• The vast majority of the amazing artists we had lined up for the 2020 festival have already agreed to roll over their appearances to 2021. This includes Show of Hands, The Young ‘Uns, Noble Jacks, Daoiri Farrell, Midnight Skyracer, Daphne’s Flight, Martyn Joseph, Merry Hell, Blackbeard’s Tea Party and lots more.
• The 2021 festival will be on the same site as previous years and our suppliers who provide the marquees and other elements that we need to make the festival happen, are on board
• We have been in touch with our fantastic stewards, kids entertainers, morris sides, traders and all those who help make the festival a great experience to explain the situation and plans for 2021.
Most importantly we hope that our ticket-buying supporters will stick with us. Many of you had already bought tickets for the 2020 festival. We would be delighted if you are willing to roll-over your 2020 tickets to the 2021 festival as this is the best way to support us in ensuring the future of the festival for years to come. We have worked with the Apex box office to arrange the process for roll-over or refund of tickets and the Apex will contact those who bought festival tickets directly to check if they wish to roll-over their tickets to next year or secure a refund. The Apex box office has several cancelled and postponed upcoming events to deal with and they are doing this in chronological order. Once the Apex tells us that they are ready to begin contacting festival ticket buyers we will let you know via the website and facebook with an indication of how long they expect it will take to contact you all. In the meantime, we would be grateful if festival customers could refrain from contacting the Apex box office as it is currently dealing with a high volume of calls and emails during this unprecedented period. Thank you in advance for your patience while you wait for the Apex to contact you.
The festival box office will remain open so please do continue buying tickets for the 2021 festival – and encourage your friends to – it’s a great way to support the long term future of Ely Folk Festival.
We will confirm further details about the 2021 festival on our website and facebook page over the coming weeks and months. If you have any queries related to the postponement of the festival, please post them on our facebook page if they are likely to be of wider interest to the festival community, or email queries@elyfolkfestival.co.uk
Please stay safe and stay at home and we will see you at Ely Folk Festival 2021.
