2016 festival bows out with Wild Mountain Thyme

Nic Lewis photo  The last performance of the 2016 festival was by Irish super group Altan who were joined on stage by Scottish legend Dougie MacLean for a rousing version of Wild Mountain Thyme, ably assisted by the entire audience singing along. A magical moment that provided a fitting end to a fantastic festival that saw new up-and-coming acts perform alongside the cream of British roots & folk musicians. A huge thank you to all the performers, volunteer stewards, traders and everyone who contributed to the success of the festival. Check out our festival facebook page for some wonderful photos and feedback. The 2016 festival has now been packed away and the sports pitches returned to their original condition, but as evidenced by the list to the right, we’re already thinking about the 2017 festival. In the meantime, if you captured some images of the 2016 festival, consider entering our festival photo competition with a chance of winning one of two pairs of weekend tickets for the 2017 festival. Our theme this year is ‘A riot of colour and sound’ and the closing date for submissions is Sunday 24th July. Click on this link for details on how to enter.
