Morris dancing has been an important element of Ely Folk Festival right from its earliest days – reflecting the diverse range of English traditional dance and how it has evolved as a living tradition. This year we have a great section of morris teams from all around the country to entertain and delight in and around the city centre over the festival weekend. They will also be undertaking the really important job of collecting donations for the festival’s chosen charity this year – the Cambridgeshire Care Network which aims to help people to stay healthy, independent and in touch with their communities. Check out our Morris line-up page for details of the morris teams performing this year and to download a copy of the morris programme. We are hoping that our, by now traditional & popular, morris procession will take place at 11.00am on Saturday morning as usual.
